For Editors and Reviewers
Editors and reviewers are expected to exercise caution in the use of generative AI tools during the peer review process. The use of AI to generate, interpret, or summarize confidential manuscripts is restricted due to concerns over confidentiality, data security, and intellectual property protection. All editorial and peer review judgments must be made independently by qualified human experts, and reviewers remain fully responsible for the content and quality of their assessments.
DUTIES OF REVIEWERS
Peer reviewers shall:
1. only agree to review manuscripts for which they have the subject expertise required to carry out a proper assessment and which they can assess promptly.
2. respect confidentiality and shall not share or use any information for personal benefit or to discredit others.
3. not involve anyone else in the review of a manuscript without obtaining permission from the journal.
4. remain unbiased regardless of the author’s identity, background, or affiliations.
5. notify the journal if he/she does not have the necessary expertise to assess the relevant aspects of a manuscript so as not to unduly delay the review process.
6. be objective and constructive in their reviews, refrain from being hostile or inflammatory, and from making libelous or derogatory personal comments.
7. prepare the report by himself/herself, unless he/she has permission from the journal to prepare it on his/her behalf.
8. refrain from suggesting that the author cite the reviewer’s work to increase the citation counts and or visibility. Do not intentionally prolong the review process.
9. provide journals with personal and professional information that is accurate and a true representation of their expertise.
10. Reviewers are expected to complete and submit their evaluations within the agreed timeframe to ensure an efficient peer-review and editorial decision-making process.
